Hemp
Natural fiber
Low plastic. Grows without irrigation or pesticides. Zero plastic.
What hemp is
Hemp is a bast fiber like linen, from a crop that grows densely without irrigation or pesticides in most climates. The fabric is durable, breathable, and softens with use.
Zero plastic, fully biodegradable, and agronomically one of the least demanding fibers in production. Its main limitation is availability — hemp textiles remain a small share of the market.
How Plastfri scores it
Hemp scores 0/100. As always, blends score by composition — hemp-polyester mixes exist, and the synthetic share shows.
The same weight applies everywhere: a product's score is the percentage-weighted plastic share of its listed fiber composition, and every weight is public.
